"Dragon Head"

So... In our failed attempt to go see a movie, Molly and I went to Blockbuster and got "Dragon Head" instead. It was good... if you ignore the terrible dubbing job which I did after Molly left and thats when I started to take it seriously. Pretty cool concept; train wreck with three teenage survivors. One goes crazy, gets killed by the others. Those two (including some sort of teenage pop-starlet, Sayaka - my goodness is she amazing) find their way out of the tunnel only to find that Japan has been completely destroyed by some sort of unknown force.

The film is stretched very thin as far as dialogue and action goes. It teeters on a thin line between action flick and eerie atmospheric film. It, unfortunately, never figures out which it wants to be, and that really is the worst part of this a-little-better-than-good movie.

Near the end of this over-two-hour epic, we are thrust into some sort of conspiracy theory explaining that some have planned for such a cataclysmic event by placing non-perishable food underground for survivors to find in Tokyo (which our heroes eventually find). This food causes everyone to basically become catatonic. They are completely emotionally numb. The reasoning behind this is that no one is going to survive this combination of meteors/extreme-seismic-activity/volcanic-apocolypse, so why make them feel fear in their last desperate hours?

Its a good ending (possibly because it was the only part I actually watched in Japanese), and there were some fantastic images throughout the film. Low-budget and never-heard-of, it was a solid Blockbuster risk.

...

And she was hot.

... I think I have lock-jaw... like all the time.

What a Difference a Year Makes...

Playing with my new Christmas toys here a while ago, I'm happy to say that this is turning out to be a wonderful holiday season. Granted, I'm a little heavier than I'd like, but I think one tiny, simple, ego-centric problem is okay for this time of year that I, up until recently, agreed with everyone that was the most depressing of the year... That honor now goes to February 14th and the nearest weekend to that date.

Last year at this time, I had hoped that the gifts I got on Xmas eve night (both w/ the family and @ home afterwards - strange thing for us Stanislawskis last year; openning gifts after coming home from the annual family Xmas party) would relieve me of my 2004 headach/hangover, but ofcourse, I didn't get that item crossed off my wish list.

2005 has been amazingly better than 2004 and could possibly go down as my best year to date. No, I wasn't always happy this year like I was mostly throughout H.S., but I grew a lot this year and learned from a lot of mistakes and took many of those mistakes in stride... It has been a challenging year and I'm glad to say I may come out ontop.

At work the other day, Erin dropped in to visit me which was an awesome surprise because I had a gorgeous little woman on my arm as I walked her through the store until we ran into her mother a bit later. I missed her a lot, too. We hugged and kissed right there in the first shop in men's and I was purely, genuinely happy. Erin and her family mean more to me than many might think and to have not only her mom, but Erin as well showing that I mean that much to them gave me a special feeling that is capping off a great year.

I don't want to list the great things of this year because that would be making the same mistake as many make in thinking that the holidays are about gifts and wrapping paper. I just want to say...

Happy Holidays and have a great New Year, everyone...

"My Book"

By Steve Chris Steve

When you detoxify with detoxifiers you will no longer have the effects of the toxins in in your body. If toxins were little guys, detoxifiers would be like enforcers who say, hey you little punks, get out of this nice body!

When you drink Whiskey you like to ask girls to take off their clothes, if they already have their clothes off to your satisfaction then you drunkenly ask them to put their clothes back on. *Girl* wants to play strip poker, i think she wants to get naked because she took a lot of shots and only me and Mike are hot enough to be seen naked, I've seen Mike and derrick naked. Mike is glorious, derrick is a big horse. Matt hit me really hard. Athletic doesn't mean fighting strong, Matt is the most unathletic person I've ever met, but he punched me harder than mike or derrick.

End of Semester Ends with... *Pleugh*...

Sorry for the Ace Ventura nod there...

My semester ended today... I went downtown and Mr. Haas, as cool as he is, was once again not there when I got there. I gave my last final to his mailbox and left for home... and by home I mean the Lower Wacker Dr. bridge.

I stalked the streets for an hour, contemplated doing some shopping on Michigan Ave, then just bought a peppermint hot chocolate and went home. Soooo, yeah... My semester was good.

It was... good. Thats about all I can say. Vicki Chan was a great discovery and my classes were enjoyable overall. I have finally begun to hang around with Erin and... man... Granted, I don't pine for her, but Jesus... I cannot shake this unbelievable attraction-- scratch that... Not attraction. "Wanting-to-tear-her-clothes-off." Yeah, thats it. I want to completely rip her clothes off and make the both of us feel goooood.

...

Oh well. I finally met Keith. Cool guy. I was glad to drive him to Union Station. I had heard about this guy so damn much Erin's freshman year and never got to meet him. I'm glad I did. He understands my physical problems with my... everything.

Speaking of which... I got a call back from my third doctor. Same results. "We can't really see anything wrong with you. Have you had therapy? Hmmmm.... We might have to do an arthroscopy. If it's just a clean-up, you'll be out of your sling in a few days. If it's a larbral or rotator cuff tear, you'll be in a sling for a month and be throwing 3 months after that."

...

wtf...

Anyway. I haven't shopped for Christmas yet... at all. Hopefully Erin and I can get our shopping in next week...

Ugh... god...

Kind of Old New Purchases...

So yeah. This was my last trip to Reckless last saturday.

Eleventh Dream Day - Eighth

&

Nico - Chelsea Girl

"Eighth" is an album I've been listening to almost as long as I've been listening to Tortoise (so like since I was about 12 or 13), and I've always meant to pick it up because at the time, my 15 year old brother said it was "like Tortoise w/ words." I got "Ursa Major" a couple months ago because I had already heard "Eighth," and loved that one too...

Nico was a girl I only had one song from ("Fairest of the Seasons")... and it just so happened to be the second-to-last track on the world's most DEPRESSING mix. But I loved this track and thought the idea of owning "Chelsea Girl" was a good one, soooo.... I bought it.

I was gonna pick up two Nick Drake albums, but decided against it at the last minute... Probably because of impending Christmas Shopping...

God...

Oh yeah... The results of my MRI for my shoulder came back... Negative... I must be imagining the sharp pains in my arm when I try to lift something or not have my arm limp for more than 15 seconds...

He is referring me to another doctor... I'm not going to get better, am I?

And now I'm having problems with my left hip which is prohibiting me from walking up stairs without taking a break. I'm 20 years old and some think I may have a blood or bone disorder or because I should not be falling apart like this all of a sudden...

Giving up would get in the way of my plans, so its not really an option at this point. Maybe after graduation...

Out with the New, In with the Old...

What the fuck...

Are you kidding me?

DON'T F*ING TELL ME THAT!

Uh-huh...

Yeah, so Erin came home on Monday and I think we were planning on seeing each other today, but I don't see that happening with work at six and two projects I am trying to get in by tomorrow (which I need to do because of work TOMORROW morning as well...).

Still Procrastinating...

So I got some pictures from my little shin-dig from Monica and they are awesome, yet lacking the 'OMG'ness the impact of the fact that I actually had a party really posesed... Oh well...

Playin' Wit da Kiddies...

Yes... Today was a grand Polish-side-of-the-family Christmas Party. It was great. Great food. Great family. Great times. I must have spent at least a half an hour just walking up and down the same four step flight of stairs with my cousin Allison (sister of Robby, my godson). That kid smiled so much today. I was surprised considering how unbelieveably jam-packed the place was. Yeah, played with all my kids and laughed with my family.

Anyway, Matt came in yesterday and he brought with him "Firefly." This show was awesome (aside from the handi-cam shit)... I only watched the two-hour pilot, and now I want to see the rest of the series, the movie as well as sign any petition to bring the show back.

I love her.

IN OTHER NEWS...

Hung out with Vicky Chan last night... until like 5 am. It was hella awesome. We watched "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on one of her bootleg DVDs. We sat up and chatted for a few hours and I had to work the next morning, so I headed out reluctantly... I *crush* this girl... ^_^ Granted, its weird with her being two years younger and me knowing I don't want a relationship right now, but still... I really like this girl... a lot. I'm sure it will turn into nothing more than a really nice, deep friendship because that appears to be all I'm capable of initiating, but hey, no harm in that... except that I'm a wuss...
