Three things...

Okay...

1. Opening FaceBook to highschools... I have no problem with this except I now feel... four years older. (sorry this took so long to comment on)

2. I need a website for 'STANd-a-CHANce Productions.' I wandered into the website of one of my classmates' company and was saying to myself, 'Man. I wish our stuff was nice and polished online like this. It is easily done, and it would just feel awesome. It's funny when I think about it, but there is a huge difference between being a legit filmmaker/student and people who just try really hard (and I mean they put a lot of work into this) at immitating their favorite filmmakers' styles. This classmate of mine who has a very nice website is one of these people. He and I were the two finalists from our Production II class for the Take One Film Festival and supposedly he was REALLY upset over his not getting in. Now, I don't think I deserved entrance for my film or anything, but his film was not only unfinished (kind of a huge pre-requisite for getting into a festival is having a complete film), but it had copyrighted music in it. That's not even including the fact that it was a blatant rip-off of all of Wes Andersen's work (specifically 'The Life Aquatic').

Which brings me to...

3. "Frankly Chalk," my final film for PII this summer has been awarded as one of the 10 best PI and II films of the last two semesters, and therefore will be screened in the aforementioned Take One Film Festival Nov. 15th @ 5.30pm. I am very happy for my crew because we all worked so fuckin' hard to complete that film. It also taught me that I will never direct AND direct photography EVER AGAIN. That was a huge mistake.

Nonetheless, it won from my class and then got the extra step further and will now be seen by more people than I ever thought possible. I am going to WTTW (Image Union) asap.

Okay, so this Blog Walks into a Bar...

On a weekend that I figured I would never leave the house because I was in a constant state of 'kinda-shitty'ness, I actually went out a hell of a lot. Friday night was the premier for Formula 1 Productions. It went so well and we went to Bar Louie for some drinks. $10 for a Red Apple Martini... A really tasty martini, but a sinlge drink, nonetheless.

Saturday, I went to one class and decided I was too tired/sick to go to the second one. So I went to see 'The Departed.' It was fucking amazing... Until the last 5 mins, 3 of which I wanted to kill Martin Scorcese for ruining the film.

After that, I was going to call Jill on the way to Vicky's to tell her I wasn't going out with her for her 22nd bday, but didn't because I was going to stop in for a minute. I played games with Vicky and some friends and groggily left her house and headed to Skokie and the Village Inn.

It... Was... AWESOME.

I saw Joan and Naomi for the first time since HS, and Tracy for the first time since grade school! They all jumped out of a plane in the morning and went drinking in the evening. Had a few beers and felt great. So glad I didn't cancel.

Sunday I watched the Bears tromp Buffalo and then hung with Molly and then Steve and Nicci. We all watched 'Dr. Strangelove' and ate an ice cream cake.

...

Good. Weekend.

@ Work...

Coming around to the end of my shift. Wanting to go home with Vicky. Sleep. Watch images flash on a screen at such high speeds that they appear to be MOVING PICTURES (aka - watch a movie). Eat a lunch. Chill.

...

What a busy life I lead. But I do. I actually have a lot of hw for my saturday classes that I need to catch up on. Not to mention not doing a horrible job on my next image design project.

I also just heard from a judge in the Take One festival that my film made it through to the final viewing and that 'Frankly Chalk' will be seen @ the festival!

Hooray.
