Diving in the Grass in the Dark...

Trying to still push myself into believing that my shoulder doesn't need surgery, I have restarted my workout that contains going to the nearby school and reliving old baseball situations while hurling the ball against the bricks and diving in the grass just off the parking lot. Its a great work out and sometimes my arm is in unbearable pain, and sometimes its not.

When taking a break once in a while, I'll sit on the bench (I always do this workout at night when it is dark out) and contemplate being in another play or directing a short film set in the tiny baseball field that I look out on. Its very serene and helps me clear my head of most of the bad thoughts that stay up there like a dormant volcano.

Speaking of which, I deleted last night's post for the reason that Mt. Mike's Brain erupted and spewed words all over the northern hemisphere. Words of which nature are rather harsh and unnecessary to be heard by anyone who may be rubbed the wrong way by it (even if that was exactly the reason I put it up in the first place, I have decided against it now).

Anyway, the whole point of this post was to say that I am Mosquito Bitten the hell out of right now... And it itches.

Lunchtime Follies...

Lunch with Lynn and Angie was most excellent today. We met up at Potbelly's @ Old Orchard (Now Westfield Shopping Center, but I will never get used to that, so its still the "Double O."), and after bear hugs, we proceeded to stuff our faces with toasted sandwich goodness. After scarfing down my "Wreck" w/ lettuce and mayo, alongside a Lime Soda, we had a heated political discussion... That is all I will say about the polotics.

Later, we noticed that we ran into about half our highschool classmates in our three hour excursion of eating and shopping, and were on the lookout for more when we parted ways. Though not for the last time this summer. This mole is looking forward to a relaxing summer with these two pals playing key roles. Good times. Good times...

Awaiting Arrival...

Okay blogmates, here's the scoop. So, about three months ago, I was sitting at the bottom of my basement steps when my mom came by and point blank with little to no expression or emotion says: "You're depressed."

Wow.

What can I say? It is that apparent. Now that the collegiate year is completed for the most part (the exception being Erin) the people I hung around with in highschool are coming in through the perverbial flood gates. I've been hanging out regularly with pretty much the only guy I made any decent relationship with and today, after going to lunch with him (Dave), I decided to give Nicole a call and see if she was in so that maybe I could drop by on a whim. She was and I did. So not my style. Anyway, I saw her for the first time since like February not to mention her little sister who I think is hilarious. We just sat and talked while she got dressed and did her hair. She straddling the entrance of her room between it and the living room where I sat comfortably on the couch. Memories of summers past and a very unique spring break came rushing in and I'd be lying if I said I didn't occasionally feel the urge to play with her hair and tickle her or poke her with my toes. I was there only about half an hour (I had work and she had to pick up her youngest sister), but it was sincerely good to see her house again, despite the awkwardness at times considering we have not hung out regularly since the summer after junior year. Nicole is not the same person she was, nor am I the same person to her most likely, but throughout high school she was the most dependable friend I had. We had our problems, but we always managed to stay best friends. When she started dating her current boyfriend during our senior year, we began to drift apart. Nonetheless, something was opened today. It may not have been a door, but it was at the very least a window... And I look forward to regaining part of that friendship this summer.

Tomorrow

I'm going to lunch with Angie and Lynn, who are the two friends that, for the most part, were the only ones to keep in touch with me this past year. Was it because of my troubles with Erin (my first connection with the two of them)? I hope not, but nonetheless, they kept in touch, and I can feel a summer with them at the center of it all coming up...

Poster...

I bid on a new poster for my new room today. It's the original theatrical poster for Short Circuit from 1986. Not a bad way to spend ten bucks.

Reaquainted...

A couple old friends named "Short Circuit," "Short Circuit II," and "The Secret Garden" dropped by this week and graced me with their genius presence.

The best film of the three, obviously, is The Secret Garden. I had forgotten how wonderfully beautiful the cinematography was in that film. Not to mention watching Kate Maberly was a real treat. I have long since forgiven her for The Langoliers, mostly because her performance brought a constant smile to my face.

The Short Circuit series was just a fun, goofy pleasure. Any stupid line becomes hilarious when spoken with an Indian Accent. For ex:

"I am thinking she is a virgin... Or atleast she used to be."
"Oh my goodness! I am sporting a tremendous woody right now!"
"Thank you. I enjoyed repeatedly throwing you to the ground."
"OH NO! GET BACK HERE! YOU'RE GROUNDED!"

New Music Site...

Ever since mp3.com went down the drain, my music has gotten better, but has been collecting dust on my computer, so here is a new site for everyone to enjoy thourough goodness.

Augury

Oh yeah, decided to go with Augury to replace the old title: "The Lazy DJ"

Oh, TLDJ, we had some good times, you and I...

3 AM Carrides...

Taking my dad to the "L" at Harlem so he can "de-fuck" the office after a bad day on the markets. Luckily, for him, I was up browsing Orkut so late that he ran into me, and eventually, a ride.

Ran into an old friend...

Holy good goddamn... An old friend from way back when in gradeschool came accross the blog yesterday and gave me a holla. Truly a blast from the past. She was cool then and shes got a good head on her shoulders now, so I'm glad I ran into her.

Anyway, finished my philosophy course today, and I'm not really sure if I need to go to EGL or not, so I'll stick around until then to find out. If I'm not required, then school's out for the summer for me!

...

Well, until summer classes start, anyway. I'm thinking about taking a class at the Goodman Theatre downtown, but I'm still unsure as of now. Classes at Oakton are an outside possibilty as well, but first I need to figure out if I'm going to keep the job at Old Navy or pursure the theater full time. AHHHH CHOICES!

5.09.2004

Ummmm....

Ok, fuckers... Who changed the goddamn format on me?

Well, in any case, I'm extremely excited about summer coming mainly because of upcoming filmmaking I plan on doing.

IN OTHER NEWS... I'm coming to the end of my first year in college this week with the handing in of two papers. One on the topic of the score to Jarmusch's "Dead Man." I am currently writing this paper and I am stuck. This is why I am writing on this right now when I should be WRITING MY FUCKING PAPER!

...

Happy Mothers' Day.

Finals...

Just completed my Archaeology final. If I got at least a 30 out of 50, then I get an "A" for the course, and if I didn't, then damn I probably shoulda studied harder, because that would suck. I hope I wasn't tripped up by what type of stone tools Homo Habilis used. It was Olduwan, right???

Anyway, finished Metropolis in Modern Culture, and I'm not quite sure that fat bitch in the Abercrombie and all the makeup in the back of the room was too interested. She was talking all throughout the class. This was of course after we went with her suggestion (aka - bitching and moaning) about getting rid of the subtitles and going with the english voice-overs. Not a problem really, except that we almost had to miss the last scene because of her. Like the Miyazaki films, the American producers took great care in making the voice-over talent as good as possible as well as accurate. Nonetheless, finished it. Professor loved it, I loved it (over and over again). And I could really care less what that class thinks. It was fun.

No more finals for this man. All I have is two more papers and then its time for me to get to know an old friend all over again; the bed.

Anniversary...

Another note...

Erin and I, three years ago today, began dating while on the Orbit at Six Flags Great America. To this day, it is up there for greatest day in my life. Despite our recent situation, it still is.

Light it up now, people

Here we go, coming down to the end of the wire. Classes are officially over for me this week and I have just turned in the biggest paper this semester today and I was one of only four who actually finished on time. Professor let the good children out first and is currently giving the bad ones a spanking... educationally.

In other news, because one of the books my Modern Culture teacher was going to have us read as our last assignement was, unfortunately, out of print, he managed to persuade me to bring in Tezuka's Metropolis. A really kickass anime film directed by Rintaro and based on the original Metropolis by Fritz Lang. Cool film if you're into anime, and a great film if you want to get someone interested in the film genre.

IN OTHER OTHER NEWS...

Finally got around to watching Haibane renmei (from the creators of Lain) and I must say it was really cool. Visually intriguing and very dreamy feel to it. Great buy.

Curse of the Wolf...

Old buddy of mine from Northside, John McGuigan (Monkeys, Monkeys II: Fight the Future) is working on his third film, Curse of the Wolf. I finally got around to reading his brilliant parody of a script and can't wait to see the final product. Good luck, John. We're all counting on you.

Good Morning Houseplants...
