Halloween...
This is (as this blog has explained countless times) my favorite time of the year. The rain lately has prematurely taken many of the leaves from the trees before the color could come out fully, let alone be appreciated properly, but still the crisp autumn air fills me with... if not 'life' than at the very least a desire for 'life.'
I was so disappointed in my Halloween costume last year that I believe I have been procrastinating this year's costume. Going as the Mononoke/Ashitaka combo last year was fucking brilliant but next to Vicky's bitchin' Mononoke costume, my Ashitaka looked rushed and half-assed. Not to mention our Halloween party was quite lame. We toyed with some awesome ideas this year. The best of which were things like Wall-E and Eve, Indiana Jones and Short Round (yeah, I didn't know about that one, either), a zombie couple, and other Miyazaki character duos but nothing ever materialized fully. Probably because of the whole saving funds thing for our move to L.A. next spring. My bet is that we will go as Chihiro and No-Face from 'Spirited Away' simply because I already have basically the whole costume for No-Face and Chihiro's costume is quite simple as well. Cost effective and probably the most recognizable of all the Miyazaki combos.
Anyway, I just want to enjoy this season more than I did last year. However, my mom's health problems of late as well as my many new financial burdens and managerial decisions at work have caused me to not realize how fast the days and weeks are passing by. I'm not down or depressed about it, but I simply feel that I will wake up one morning and it will be December 12th and I'll start worrying about Christmas shopping...
