Lake Lawn Lodge!
This weekend a bunch of friends along with Vicky and I are going up to Lake Lawn Lodge in WI for a quiet, relaxing weekend... Filled with liquor, stripping and rowdy fun times where we bother the shit out of the neighbors.
I haven't been here since March of 1999 in 8th grade with some Edison folk. Back then, we used to go once or twice a year with a large group and just Rollerblade through the halls, swim, eat buffets and try to get 'Striptease' on the video rental vending machine but end up with 'Matilda.' Those were actually really great times. Listening to Tori Amos' 'Boys for Pele' on my new DiscMan and playing Super Nintendo in our rooms.
Well now we'll have booze, no chaperons and... adultness.
Speaking of adultness, I was reading Wil Wheaton's blog today and he was talking about how his kids will never know what a floppy disc is or what went into bringing records to a friend's house. Granted, on the music front, I came a bit after vinyls, but I still remember what it was like to make mix TAPES. I remember when I first discovered Mp3s and the joy it brought me to be able to bring 750 Mbs of music in a portable way. Now there are flash drives and iPods that not only hold gigabytes of songs, but books, photos, and videos. Incredible. The great point Wheaton brought up in the end was the pleasure it brings him to not only be a part of this technologically convenient age but to have been in on that great and rapid shift from one age to the next.
He runs a great blog and it's fun to see that this guy I grew up watching on TV is just a big geek at heart.
Now Playing: Bill & Belle Reed - "Old Lady and the Devil"
